About me
Life
I currently live in Denver, Colorado, near City Park and Colfax. I'm the Design Bandit (aka senior graphic designer) at Brand Iron, a marketing and design firm based in lower downtown Denver. I am also a member of The fu collective + gallery, which is located in the Denver art district. I enjoy art (obviously) and am outdoor enthusiast. I like to run, snowboard, skateboard, hike, camp etc. I enjoy going to work everyday, which is something not a lot of people can say.
Origin
I was born on June, 17 1984 in Denver, Colorado. I grew up in Bailey, a small mountain town in Colorado; I graduated from Platte Canyon High School in 2002.
School
I went to Western State College, a small liberal arts school in Gunnison, Colorado. Western has a great BFA graphic design program and close to Crested Butte and I also received a small scholarship to run cross-country and track, and helped the cross-country team to a 3rd place finish at the 2006 NCAA DII National Championships. I graduated from Western with a BFA in Graphic design and a minor in Business Administration in May 2007.
Design Career
I was very involved in my College; I worked as a graphic designer for the school paper, I was the art director for Western’s art and literature magazine and did various local design competitions and freelance work. In May of 2006, I started work as an assistant graphic designer for the Western State College publications department. I worked there until I graduated in May 2007. Shortly after graduation I was hired as the lead creative designer at gopixel Design Studios in Castle Rock, Colorado and worked there until May 2008. I recently was hired as the senior designer at Brand Iron, a design and marketing firm located in lower downtown Denver that specializes in re-branding. I still do some freelance on the side as well, I'm currently doing some design work for the band, Flobots.
Art Career
I'm currently a member of The Fu Collective + gallery, which is located in the art district in Denver. My first exhibit was my Senior BFA show “bridging the gap” in February of 2007. I had two pieces selected at Core Art New Space’s Annual juried WOW show in February of 2008, and had my exhibit “there is piranha in the pool again” showing the month of in March (2008) at the 8th Ave Gallery. Both CORE and the 8th Ave gallery are located in the art district in downtown Denver.
